“Bird in Flight” was created with acrylic paint on cotton canvas, applying the acrylic paint directly onto the canvas using the impasto technique. I used palette knives to further manipulate the paints and to create depth, dimension, texture and emotion. I wanted the bird to look like it was landing or taking off depending on the viewer’s interpretation.
