I paint organically unless I decide otherwise; therefore, there are times I do not necessarily know what I’m going to paint until I paint it. This 24″ x 36″ painting is one such example. Using acrylic paints on a cotton canvas, I began by painting a gold-colored underpainting followed by layering with a Nickel Azo gold.
As I paint, I am guided by emotion. I hone the emotion, lean into it, and begin painting. It’s like going on a journey; and every journey takes me someplace new. This is one of my journeys into gold.
