Open Mic

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of reading my work to a crowd that gathered at the Burlap and Bean Coffee house in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

I did not realize the venue was mostly for musicians; however, this did not deter me. I thoroughly enjoyed the event. The performers were incredibly talented and I got to meet and be around other creatives, which is always a plus.

Some of the musicians I heard were Vile Bread, Timothy Ryan Goodwin, Brian Ashley Jones, Quincy, Michael Ryan, Max, Mo (Creole music) and Jeremy James, who sang “If you don’t know yourself at 29.”

I’m getting back into performing my work — something I haven’t done consistently for over a decade. I used to perform regularly in the late 90s — going to open mic performances and now I have returned to the scene.

I will be looking for other venues to attend. The next place I plan to be is Steel City Coffeehouse in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. I hope to see you there!
