Ornaments

I carefully hand paint each glass ornament I design. Using the technique called Hinterglasmalerei, I paint the ornament’s glass interior; otherwise known as reverse glass painting. I do this by entering through the opening at the top of the ornament using specific tools and methods. The layering process I use depends upon the size and shape of the ornament, paint brand, color, and drying time.

The inspiration for my ornaments comes from the natural world that surrounds me, like glistening snow, ice formations, river deposits, bodies of water, etc. Other inspirations come from other artists, for example like Monet, and van Gogh, while other inspirations come from fruit, and flowers.

My ornaments can take up to weeks, months or a year or more to create depending upon style.

Each ornament is enhanced by Offray ribbon, and is signed and numbered by me, the artist. The ornament is for indoor use only and can be displayed year-round.

My ornaments are now archived at the Corning Museum of Glass.

I hope this unique ornament brings as much joy to you as it did for me in creating it!
